ACD Session No: 400 : The Constructivist Approach for Effective Teaching Concluded on Saturday, February 24 2018

Constructivism is observation and scientific study based theory about how people learn.  It believes that people construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world through experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences. This approach of teaching and learning has been used in various Educational institutions worldwide. The purpose of this session is to help teachers understand its real meaning and how it can be applied in Pakistani classrooms.

By the end of the session participants should be able to;

  • understand the concept of constructivism
  • practice through activities specially designed for constructivism approach of teaching and learning
  • design better lesson plans following five principles of constructivism

Facilitators

Mr. Mian Saad Ahmed holds an MBA degree and is associated with Washington International School as a Head Teacher. He is trained from British Council to teach students effectively. He recently attended a training from ILIPE project of University of Massachusetts Civic Initiative, USA. Being an active SPELT member he wishes to share his experience with SPELTERS and train them to use constructivism approach in their regular teaching.
