For the 29th International SPELT Conference, we set forth to bring new ideas and techniques to the arsenal of ELT Professionals.
The theme for this year “Surfing the ELT Wave: New Ideas for a new Generation”
was put on the table to bring the ELT Community up to date and informed about the latest advancements in English Language Teaching.
As has become a tradition at our Conferences, we bring together Internationally
renowned ELT Professionals from around the globe under one roof to share and spread knowledge and inspiration.
Our Keynote Speaker this year was Dr. Christine A. Coombe from Dubai, UAE.
She presented on the title “Best Practice in ELT: 10 Traits of a Highly Effective Teacher”.
Our Plenary Speakers this year included: Naomi Migliacci,
from the USA, Dr. Ishrat Suri from Saudi Arabia, Rukhsana Zia from Lahore and Dr. Shahid Siddiqui also from Lahore.
Our Urdu strand also ran strong alongside our ELT strand,
with the Keynote Speaker this year being Dr. Arifa Syeda Zahra, a well known local Educationist.
As Plenary Speakers, we had Amra Alam, Prof. Dr. Zulqarnain Ahmed and Dr. Tanzinzim Ul-Firdous.
Starting to become a regular addition at SPELT Conferences are the webinars
from a multitude of ELT Professionals and Educationist all over the planet,
who are not able to attend the Conference in person but still feel inclined to be a part of this major event in the region.
This year we had about TEN webinars from Brain A. Oliver Smith, CEO Urban Planet Mobile;
Candie Moonshower, Professor of English-MTSU; Kristin O’Donell Tubb, Regional Advisor,
Society of Children’s Book; Judy Findley, President ONE SKY International; Dr. Kathy Ganske, Vanderbilt University,
USA; Prof. Dr. Maya Khemlani David, University of Malaya, Malaysia; Linda Ragsdale, President, Peace Dragon; Saulat Majid,
Muslim Community College; Mohsin Tejani and Richard Gorham; John Eyles, Urban Planet.
The Conference was yet another success in the long line of Conferences.
All this would not have been possible without all our dedicated speakers and professionals in attendance.
The Conference could never be as big as it is without all our sponsors and partners.
