30th Annual ELT Conference

The 30th International Conference theme was chosen to be “Stringing ELT Pearls”. SPELT is the clasp that strings the Pearls of ELT together and embodies in itself endosymbiosis and mutualism, creating a relationship that benefits all. It equips teachers with strength and resilience skills to face the myriad challenges of the 21st Century.

SPELT 30th International Conference aimed to focus on the iridescent strategies of English Language Teaching through a variety of workshops, seminars, webinars, colloquiums, panel, discussions, leadership strands, research and SIGs as genres of English Language Teaching from across the globe. The drop of water reminds you “what you were” and the pearl suggests “what you can be” by undergoing metamorphism, thereby, acquiring attributes of flawlessness.

This year for the Conference we had a change of venue. The Conference was held at the Bahria Institute of Teacher Training at Bahria College Karsaz. And SPELT is very thankful to the Pakistan Navy in their cooperation in this regard.

The conference proved to be one of our largest with over 900 participants. It was a huge success with about 6 Plenary Speakers, 2 Featured Speakers and 85 workshops. Not only had that but conference also had 11 papers presented, 12 leadership and 12 SIG (Special Interest Group) seminars ands 8 webinars.

We were honored to have the esteemed Prof. Anne Burns, as the our Keynote Speaker. She is the Professor of TESOL at the University of New South Wales. Our Plenary Speakers were no less impressive. Our affiliate organization, TESOL as in the past provided us with two plenary speakers, Les Kirkham and Rosa Aronson. Our other Plenary Speakers included Prof. Zakia Sarwar, Abbas Hussain, Dr. Ahmar Mehboob and Umair Jaliawala.
